“BAIDRAG HYDROPOWER PLANT” PROJECT TO BE IMPLEMENTED THROUGH A PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP

🇲🇳 At its regular meeting, the Government of Mongolia decided to implement the “Baidrag Hydropower Plant” project, to be developed in the territories of Bombogor and Buutsagaan soums of Bayankhongor Province, under a public private partnership framework.

✅ The project will have an installed capacity of 30 MW and is expected to play an important role in regulating peak load in the Central Region Energy System, substituting imported electricity, and improving the reliability of energy supply.

➡️ The project is planned to be implemented under a model that includes conducting an environmental impact assessment, developing the design, constructing and operating the facility, and transferring it to the state.

📌 Expanding renewable energy sources and improving the reliability of energy supply have become important components of national and local development policy.

🇲🇳✅ In this context, UBIM is implementing a project in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme to gradually transition ger district households to renewable energy solutions and improve the energy stability of the city.

✅ The project is significant not only for increasing the use of renewable energy at the household level, but also for reducing the load on the centralized energy system and creating a feasible model for green investmentment.
