PREPARATORY WORKS FOR THE CHP-5 PROJECT CONTINUE

 

Preparatory works for the Fifth Combined Heat and Power Plant /CHP-5/ project, which is of strategic importance for meeting Ulaanbaatar city’s growing energy demand, are being implemented according to plan.

Engineering and geological drilling works at the project site have been fully completed, and key plant equipment, including the boiler, turbine, generator, and transformer, has been ordered. In addition, land clearance, technical conditions, infrastructure solutions, and design works are continuing in stages.

As part of the site preparation works, ash transportation commenced on 22 April 2026. As of today, 55.6 thousand cubic meters of ash have been transported through 2,227 trips.

Once commissioned, CHP-5 will enable the supply of electricity to approximately 100,000 households and heating to approximately 40,000 households, thereby improving the reliability of the Capital City’s energy supply.

UBIM is organizing the financing structure and implementation preparation works of the CHP-5 project, while ensuring its financial participation by investing in the shares of the project company through “Capital City Development Fund Private Investment Fund SPV” LLC.
