THE BANK OF MONGOLIA PURCHASED 758.5 KG OF PRECIOUS METALS IN MAY
The Bank of Mongolia purchased a total of 758.5 kg of precious metals in May 2026, bringing the cumulative total since the beginning of the year to 5.0 tonnes.
Compared with the same period of the previous year, the total volume of precious metals purchased since the beginning of the year increased by 17.4 percent. Of this amount, the Bank of Mongolia’s branch in Darkhan-Uul Province purchased 190.2 kg, while its branch in Bayankhongor Province purchased 1,098.6 kg of precious metals.
The Bank of Mongolia sets its precious metal purchase prices in line with international market prices. In May 2026, the average purchase price of one gram of gold was MNT 527,396.61.

The increase in precious metal purchases is important for expanding the country’s foreign exchange reserves, supporting the stability of the Mongolian tugrik, and strengthening the fundamental conditions of the macroeconomy.
