TOURIST ARRIVALS INCREASED BY 39% IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2026 COMPARED WITH THE SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR
The number of foreign tourists visiting Mongolia continues to grow steadily, reflecting a tangible recovery in the tourism sector.
In particular:
In March 2026, 59,317 tourists arrived in Mongolia, an increase of 19,815 visitors, or 50%, compared with the same period last year.
In the first quarter of 2026, 143,431 tourists arrived, representing an increase of 40,580 visitors, or 39%, year-on-year.
According to the National Statistics Office, Mongolia’s GDP reached MNT 89.9 trillion in 2025, marking 6.8% growth, which indicates renewed economic activity and broader participation across sectors.
The growth structure shows increasing contribution from sectors such as agriculture and tourism, highlighting a trend toward a more diversified economic base. This further underscores the need to accelerate new projects and investment decisions, while expanding flexible financing structures and private sector participation.
