ODD EVEN VEHICLE REGISTRATION TRAFFIC MEASURES TO TAKE EFFECT FROM 15 AUGUST
To facilitate the successful hosting of the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) and ensure smooth preparations for the new academic year, Ulaanbaatar will implement a temporary odd even vehicle registration traffic management scheme from 15 August to 12 September 2026.
The measure will be enforced daily from 07:00 to 21:00 across the six central districts of Ulaanbaatar. Unlike previous arrangements, the restriction will apply citywide within the designated districts without zonal segmentation.
Vehicles with odd numbered registration plates may operate on:
15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, and 31 August, as well as 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 September 2026.
Vehicles with even numbered registration plates may operate on:
16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30 August, as well as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 September 2026.
The temporary traffic management measure is designed to reduce traffic congestion during the COP17 conference and the back-to-school period, while improving traffic flow, road network efficiency, and urban mobility throughout the capital.
