COP17 PREPARATIONS PRESENTED TO MEMBERS OF THE ULAANBAATAR CITY COUNCIL

🇲🇳 Preparations for the Seventeenth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar from 17–28 August 2026, were presented to members of the Ulaanbaatar City Council, outlining the current implementation progress and organizational readiness.

🌍 During the briefing, Mr. Sh. Batbayar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, emphasized that 81.5% of Mongolia’s territory is affected by land degradation to varying degrees. He noted that combating desertification, addressing land degradation, and promoting sustainable rangeland management require coordinated efforts among government institutions, the private sector, and international organizations.

🤝 Bringing together representatives from more than 190 countries, UNCCD COP17 will serve as a major international platform for advancing policy dialogue, investment cooperation, and global partnerships to address land degradation, desertification, and climate change.

➡️ As sustainable development, climate-resilient infrastructure, and nature-based investments become increasingly important priorities for international financing, Ulaanbaatar Investment and Management Securities Company (UBIM) continues to strengthen collaboration with international financial institutions and development partners to expand investment opportunities and develop internationally aligned financing solutions for the City’s strategic development projects.
