WHAT IS AN INVESTMENT FUND?

 

An investment fund is a financial structure that pools capital from multiple investors and professionally manages and allocates those funds, in accordance with a defined investment policy and strategy, across projects, securities, and other investment instruments.

In simple terms, an investment fund can be understood as a vehicle that pools investors’ capital and channels it toward projects and investment opportunities requiring financing.

Ulaanbaatar Investment Management JSC (UBIM), a municipally owned company, works to develop investment and financing solutions for Ulaanbaatar’s major development projects and programs, while mobilizing capital from both domestic and international capital markets.

In this context, investment funds represent an important financing vehicle that can be used to mobilize longterm capital, broaden investor participation, and diversify funding sources for development projects.

COP17 AND SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT

The UNCCD COP17, to be hosted in Ulaanbaatar, represents an important opportunity to advance investment in land restoration, sustainable land management, and initiatives aimed at addressing land degradation, desertification, and the impacts of drought.

To translate the objectives advanced under COP17 into bankable projects and tangible investments, a range of financing instruments can be utilized, including green finance, investment funds, bonds, and other capital market instruments.

Through its investment and capital market functions, UBIM works to develop financing structures that enhance the investment readiness of Ulaanbaatar’s green and sustainable development projects and connect them with domestic and international sources of capital.
