THE 8TH REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITIZENS’ REPRESENTATIVES KHURAL OF THE CAPITAL CITY IS DISCUSSING SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE “SELBE SMART CITY” SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE

 

The 8th Regular Session of the Citizens’ Representatives Khural of the Capital City is continuing today, August 10, 2026.

The session is discussing a proposal to support the establishment of the “Selbe Smart City” Special Economic Zone. The establishment of the zone is expected to contribute to creating a favorable business and investment environment, increasing private sector participation, and developing the city’s emerging subcenter into a dynamic hub for economic activity.

The “Selbe Smart City” project is one of Ulaanbaatar’s major urban development projects, being implemented across 158 hectares in the 14th Khoroo of Sukhbaatar District and the 14th and 15th Khoroos of Chingeltei District. The project is planned to comprise 113 residential blocks with a total of 8,575 housing units.

The session will also discuss and decide on measures to be implemented during the 2026–2027 heating season to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar, matters related to revenue and profit distribution, and certain issues concerning municipal property.

Representatives of UBIM, a municipally owned company, are participating in the 8th Regular Session of the Citizens’ Representatives Khural of the Capital City.
