CONSTRUCTION OF THE “CABLE CAR TRANSPORT” PROJECT REACHES 84% COMPLETION

🇲🇳 As part of Ulaanbaatar’s efforts to diversify its public transport system and improve accessibility, quality, and service standards, construction of the Cable Car Transport Project has reached 84% completion.

🏗️ Current works include interior finishing at the two stations, installation of engineering utility networks, and calibration and adjustment of station systems and sensors.

➡️ The Yarmag–Kharkhorin cable car line will feature:

🔹 4.2 km in total length

🔹 2 stations

🔹 98 cabins

🔹 Passenger capacity of up to 2,320 passengers per hour

🇲🇳🇫🇷 The project is being implemented in two phases with highly concessional financing from the Government of the French Republic. The financing terms include a 40 year maturity, an annual interest rate of 0.0076%, and a 12-year grace period on principal repayments, making it a notable example of long-term, low-cost infrastructure financing.

🌱 Cable car transport is an environmentally sustainable mobility solution that generates relatively low levels of noise, air, and soil pollution. The project is expected to improve public transport accessibility, help ease road congestion, and contribute to Ulaanbaatar’s sustainable urban development.

🇲🇳✅ UBIM works to mobilize long-term, cost efficient financing for Ulaanbaatar’s major projects and programs while expanding cooperation with international financial institutions and investors.
