LAND ACQUISITION FOR THE “WASTE TO ENERGY” PROJECT HAS REACHED 71% COMPLETION

🇲🇳 The “Waste to Energy” project, aimed at upgrading Ulaanbaatar’s waste management system and establishing environmentally friendly infrastructure, is progressing according to plan.

📌 The project will be implemented between 2025–2028 under a Public, Private Partnership (PPP) model on a 10 hectare site in Khoroo 12, Khan-Uul District (Moringiin Davaa). As of today, 71% of the land acquisition process has been completed.

♻️ Upon completion, the project will:

✔️ Process 1,500 tons of waste per day

✔️ Generate 35 MW of electricity

✔️ Supply power to approximately 2,333 households

✅ In addition, the project will integrate waste into the economic cycle and significantly reduce soil and air pollution as well as greenhouse gas emissions. Its environmental impact is equivalent to eliminating 2,333 coal stoves and pit latrines.

🇲🇳✅ As the authorized manager of the Capital City Green Fund and an implementing entity for Green Climate / Environmental Projects, UBIM is systematically carrying out investment management activities to connect Ulaanbaatar’s green development and infrastructure projects with sustainable financing and turn them into tangible developments.
