PROGRESS OF THE BAGANUUR COAL PYROLYSIS PLANT PROJECT REVIEWED
🇲🇳 Over the past weekend, Prime Minister of Mongolia N. Uchral, members of the Government, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar B. Purevdagva, together with the capital city leadership, worked in Baganuur District and reviewed the preparatory works and implementation progress of the Coal Pyrolysis Plant Project to be developed within the Baganuur Industrial and Technology Park.
✅ As part of the project, a semi industrial pilot test was conducted using 360 tons of coal samples from the Baganuur mine, confirming the feasibility of producing semi coke fuel that meets the standards and requirements for consumption in Ulaanbaatar City.
✅ With a total investment of USD 134 million, the plant is planned to process 1.8 million tons of lignite annually and produce 600,000 tons of semi coke fuel, 82,000–84,000 tons of coal tar, and 40 MW of electricity once commissioned.
✅ Once operating at full capacity, the plant is expected to enable the capital city to meet its winter fuel demand domestically, substitute imported semi coke, reduce air pollution by 50–60 percent, and generate annual state budget savings of more than MNT 200 billion.
🇲🇳 UBIM continues to work on expanding investment solutions and financing opportunities for major projects and programs of the capital city.
