CABLE CAR PROJECT REACHES 85% COMPLETION; TEST OPERATIONS TO COMMENCE IN SEPTEMBER

 

🇲🇳 Construction of the Kharkhorin Market–Yarmag Cable Car Project in Ulaanbaatar has reached 85% completion.

 Today, Mr. Purevdagva B., Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, together with relevant officials, visited the project site to review the construction progress of the G1 station.

 Under the project connecting Artsat and Unur Residential District, all 19 support towers have been fully installed, while construction of the G1 and G2 stations has reached approximately 80% completion and is progressing in line with the project schedule.

🚠 The cable car system is scheduled to begin test operations on 19 September 2026, with state commissioning and acceptance planned between 20 October and 20 November 2026.

 

📌 Upon completion, the project will provide:

 

✔️ An 11-minute journey along the 4.2-kilometre Yarmag–Kharkhorin corridor.

 

✔️ 98 cabins, each accommodating 10 passengers with a maximum carrying capacity of 800 kilograms.

 

✔️ A comprehensive safety system, including automatic backup power generators in the event of power outages and an emergency evacuation system capable of safely returning all cabins to stations under exceptional circumstances.
