EXCHANGING VIEWS ON COOPERATION UNDER THE AIMAGS AND SOUMS GREEN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT PROGRAM

 

Representatives of UBIM met with representatives of the Aimags and Soums Green Regional Development Investment Program (ASDIP) to discuss the program’s implementation, financing structure, and potential areas for future cooperation.

The program aims to support the development of climate resilient, low carbon, and livable aimag and soum centers, while strengthening livestock and agribusiness value chains, promoting sustainable rangeland management, supporting green businesses, and fostering local economic development.

The program is being implemented through a Multitranche Financing Facility (MFF) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with implementation planned over the period 2023–2033. The program also mobilizes climate finance and promotes private sector investment mechanisms to support green regional development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas of cooperation, including strengthening the investment readiness of green development projects and programs, developing viable financing structures, increasing private sector participation, and aligning projects with green and sustainable financing sources.

UBIM works to strengthen the investment readiness of Ulaanbaatar’s projects and programs, mobilize non budgetary financing, and develop green and sustainable financing solutions. The meeting also explored opportunities to draw on ASDIP’s experience and financing approaches and apply relevant practices to projects currently being implemented or planned by Ulaanbaatar.
