AUTUMN TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN BEGINS NATIONWIDE

 

As part of Mongolia’s “One Billion Trees” National Movement, the autumn tree-planting campaign is being organized under the theme “Golden Autumn – Tree-Planting Season.”

The “One Billion Trees” National Movement is now in its sixth year. Over this period, significant groundwork has been laid to support tree planting, cultivation, and maintenance. To date, more than 140 million trees have been planted and cultivated nationwide, including 4.8 million trees in Ulaanbaatar.

In Ulaanbaatar, the autumn campaign builds on the results of the spring 2026 tree-planting activities. Alongside new planting, particular emphasis is being placed on the regular watering and maintenance of planted trees, replacement planting where necessary, and continuous monitoring of tree growth and survival.

As part of these efforts, organizations will carry out tree planting activities in accordance with approved locations and plans. They will also record data on the species, number, location, and growth of planted trees, assess the results of previous planting activities, and undertake replacement planting where required.

Expanding urban green spaces is not a one time tree planting activity. It requires sustained maintenance, protection, and monitoring to ensure the long term survival and healthy growth of planted trees. These efforts are important for improving the quality of the urban environment, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and creating a healthier and more livable city for residents.
