MONGOLIA’S EXPORTS REACH USD 14.4 BILLION, TRADE SURPLUS WIDENS TO USD 6 BILLION
According to the latest foreign trade statistics released by the National Statistics Office of Mongolia, Mongolia’s exports reached USD 14.4 billion in the first eight months of 2026, representing a 57.2% increase year on year.
As a result, the country recorded a trade surplus of USD 6.0 billion, approximately 3.6 times higher than in the same period of the previous year.
The increase in exports was primarily driven by key mining commodities. The export value of copper ores and concentrates increased by USD 2.8 billion, while coal exports rose by USD 1.9 billion.
China accounted for 92.7% of Mongolia’s total exports, while copper and coal together generated more than 80% of total export revenue.
Higher export revenues and a widening trade surplus support Mongolia’s foreign currency inflows, balance of payments, and overall macroeconomic stability. These indicators also play an important role in shaping international investors’ assessment of the Mongolian market and the broader financing environment.
