ULAANBAATAR CABLE CAR PROJECT REACHES 90% COMPLETION

🇲🇳 The Ulaanbaatar Cable Car Project, being implemented to diversify the city’s public transport system, improve accessibility, and reduce road congestion, has reached 90% overall completion, with the main construction and installation works now fully completed.

➡️ The 4.2 kilometer Yarmag–Kharkhorin cable car line will feature two stations and 98 cabins, with a designed transport capacity of 2,320 passengers per hour. Once operational, the system is expected to provide residents with additional mobility options, improve access to public transport, and help alleviate traffic pressure along the corridor.

⚙️ Safety system configuration, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities are currently underway. The project is scheduled to undergo final acceptance by the relevant state commission and is planned to commence operations on December 15, 2026.

📈 The phased implementation of major public transport and infrastructure projects is important for strengthening Ulaanbaatar’s investment environment, expanding private-sector and international investor participation, and creating new opportunities for long term infrastructure financing.

🇲🇳 UBIM is working to enhance the investment readiness of Ulaanbaatar’s development projects and programs, broaden financing opportunities, and mobilize non budgetary funding sources.
