COP17 “BLUE ZONE” TEMPORARY FACILITIES AGREEMENT SIGNED

 

🇲🇳🇺🇳 Mongolia is preparing to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) in Ulaanbaatar from August 17–28, 2026.

➡️ A signing ceremony was held for the agreement on the lease and use of temporary facilities for the COP17 “Blue Zone.”

From the Mongolian side, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Kh. Nyambaatar signed the agreement, while Inès Ginon, the authorized representative of the French company GL Events, signed on behalf of the implementing party.

🇫🇷 GL Events will supply and install 12 temporary facilities in accordance with United Nations requirements and international standards. These structures will host:

the plenary sessions,

official negotiations,

high-level meetings,

regional and committee sessions,

side events,

media operations,

exhibition areas, and

service zones.

🌏🇺🇳 UNCCD COP17 is a major global forum addressing land degradation, desertification, and climate change, expected to bring together government representatives from 196 countries, international organizations, development partners, research institutions, private sector participants, and investors.

🇲🇳✅ UBIM has been actively supporting preparations within the COP17 framework by focusing on:

promoting renewable energy development,

accelerating the transition to a green economy, and

supporting regional sustainable development projects.

These cooperation initiatives have been underway since August 2025, with a dedicated working group established to coordinate related activities.
